Each year, GELP recognizes global leaders whom of which demonstrate outstanding leadership to their community and greater society.
On May 6, 2022, the Global Emerging Leadership Programs (GELP) honoured Vivek Savkur, Founder of BC-India Business Network (BCIBN) with GELP’s first annual Global Leadership Award, named Nôthé Wasté. An official award announcement will be presented at the 2022 Global Summit for Career & Skill Development in June.

Savkur immigrated to Canada in 2007 and founded BC-IBN in 2015. He has worked tirelessly with diverse stakeholders and helped connect Canadian and Indian companies, and strengthened trade between the two countries. Vivek Savkur is actively connected with Indo-Canadian Bilateral Trade for the last 30 years. Having held several positions in the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber (ICBC), and then the Canada-India Business Council (BC). He was instrumental in establishing the brand image of the Canada-India Business Council in BC and won the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal by the Governor General of Canada. Savkur is now the recipient of the Nôthé Wasté, GELP 2022 Global Leadership Award.
